Mission, Ethos & Values

St. Benedict’s Catholic Voluntary Academy bases itself on the belief that we are all part of God’s family and should treat each other with care, respect and love. We seek to build a strong partnership with parents and families and establish a school community that embodies and fulfils our school vision.

Our vision as a truly Catholic community with Christ at the heart of all we do, is to…..

  • Be grateful for all that we have, give thanks and praise God each day.
  • Aspire to be the best we can be, knowing that we will learn and embrace all we can when we can.
  • As children of God, we nurture the talents of each unique individual to be inspirational members of our community.
  • In caring for the world in which we live, we foster the unique gifts of each child so they may serve and grow as disciples of faith and shine in the Glory of God.

‘Pray together, learn together’

To promote the knowledge and values of the Catholic Faith through individual and collective prayer and worship, so that each person grows even closer to God, takes responsibility within the Christian community and learns to be tolerant of all races and religious beliefs.

After love, a good education is the greatest gift we can bestow upon our children. We will strive to motivate, stimulate and assist children in developing their own unique gifts to the limit of their capacities. Through a broad and balanced curriculum we will assist children to acquire the knowledge and skills, which support their continuing education and be relevant to their lives.

Each child will be valued as an individual and will be encouraged to develop a positive self-image, an awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses and an appreciation of the hopes and achievements of others, within the spirit of equal opportunity.

The school will seek to build a strong partnership with parents, families, the parish and the wider community, encouraging active participation in the life of the school, in order that each individual is valued and respected.

The school will provide an environment of mutual encouragement and support for all staff, with opportunities for self-improvement, appraisal, training and development, through the Christian ethos of the school.

🎃🍂 Pumpkin Soup Day in the Nursery! 🍂🎃

First of all, we’re sorry for the late post! 🙈📱 We’ve had a few technical difficulties, but we’re back and ready to share all the fun! 💻✨

🌟 What a fantastic Friday we had in nursery! 🌟

Our little chefs 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳 got busy in the kitchen, taking it in turns to cut up the pumpkins 🎃, chop the carrots 🥕 and potatoes 🥔, and spread their own butter on their bread 🧈🍞.

There were so many wonderful skills being developed and practised, including fine motor skills ✋, hand-eye coordination 👀, turn-taking 🤝, independence 💪 and learning about healthy foods 🥦🍎.

The children worked so hard, and their efforts were rewarded with a delicious bowl of homemade pumpkin soup 🥣🎃 served with crusty bread 🍞😋.

💛 A HUGE thank you to some of our lovely parents who kindly supplied dairy-free ingredients for one of our soups 🥛🚫 and homemade bread for our afternoon children 🍞🥰. Your kindness and support are always so appreciated! 💕

We were absolutely amazed by how many children were willing to give the soup a try! 🥹👏 What fantastic little food explorers we have! 🌟 Some children even finished their entire bowl! 🥣🙌 We were so proud of everyone for being brave, trying something new and giving it their best go! 💚🎉

🍁🦔 Our autumn adventures continued! 🦔🍁

The children used our beautiful autumn treasures 🍂🍁🌰 to create a cosy little home for our class hedgehog 🦔🏡. They also enjoyed getting creative and decorating their very own pumpkins 🎃🎨. We had so much fun exploring the colours, textures and treasures that autumn brings! 🍂✨

🥰 What a wonderful way to finish the week. We hope all our wonderful families have a fantastic half term! 🎃🍂 Enjoy a well-deserved break, have lots of fun and make some special memories together. 🧡👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

🍂🎃 Reception’s Autumn Adventures! 🍁🍂

What a wonderful time we’ve had in Reception exploring all things autumn! 🧡 Our little learners have been busy discovering the magic of the season through lots of fun, hands-on activities. 🌰🍃

🔢 Counting conkers – developing our number skills as we counted, matched and explored quantities.

🎃 Pumpkin rolling – making predictions, testing our ideas and discovering what happens when we give a pumpkin a little push! Lots of learning and giggles along the way!

🍁 Comparing and sorting leaves – looking closely at their colours, shapes and sizes, spotting similarities and differences, and exploring the wonderful changes happening in the natural world around us.

We’ve seen our little learners embracing the joy of learning! We are so proud of the way the children learn through play, learn from one another and approach each new adventure with such enthusiasm! 🌟

As we finish school today for our half-term break, we wish all our lovely Reception families a happy, restful and fun-filled holiday! Enjoy making special memories, spending precious time together and perhaps discovering a few more autumn treasures along the way! 🍂🍄

🙏 God bless everyone, keep safe, and have a wonderful half term! 🙏

🐦🌿 Mini Vinnies – See, Think, Do! 🌿🐦

Our Mini Vinnies have been busy making eco-friendly bird feeders as part of the Year of St Francis, who showed such love and care for all of God’s creation. 💚

Inspired by our Mini Vinnies motto, See, Think, Do, the children have been: 👀 Seeing the beauty of nature and the wildlife around us. 💭 Thinking about how we can care for God’s creation and protect our environment. 🙌 Doing something positive by creating eco-friendly bird feeders to help our feathered friends! 🐦

Through this activity, our Mini Vinnies are putting their faith into action and showing that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. 🌍💚
Thanks to Father Emmanuel for his help today.

“Praise be to you, my Lord, through all your creatures.” – St Francis of Assisi 🙏
